John Garland Flowers became the third president of Southwest Texas State Teachers College in 1942; he held this position for twenty-two years until his retirement in August 1964. The Flowers papers document his professional activities during the years of his presidency, including topics related to his administrative duties as a college president and his leadership role in education at both state and national levels.

Robert Hardesty termination litigation records
This collection includes legal records pertaining to the case former University President Robert L. Hardesty and Mary R. Hardesty against the Board of Regents of Texas State University System after his sudden and controversial dismissal. The case led to a $1.1 million dollar settlement for Mr. Hardesty.
Texas State University--San Marcos, University Council records
The University Council served as an advisory board to the University President and the President’s Cabinet from 1992 through 2014. The records within this collection document the meetings and membership of the Council as well as their recommendations to University administration.
Thomas G. Harris administrative records
Thomas G. Harris was the first Principal of the Southwest Texas Normal School, which opened in 1903. The collection mainly consists of correspondence written to Harris concerning school related matters, with a small amount of printed materials.
